To thoroughly implement the spirit of MCC's 2024 Annual Work Conference, develop new-quality productive forces through high-level science and technology innovation, and promote the enterprise's further transformation and upgrading, the MCC and China MCC 2024 Annual Science and Technology Innovation Work Conference was held in Beijing on March 20. Chen Jianguang, Deputy General Manager and member of the Party Leadership Group of China Minmetals Corporation, Secretary of the Party Committee of MCC, and Chairman of MCC and China MCC, attended the conference and delivered a speech; Qu Yang, member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee of MCC and China MCC and Vice President of China MCC, presented the report on science and technology innovation. The conference was presided over by Bai Xiaohu, member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee of MCC and China MCC and Vice President of China MCC.
At the conference, Chen Jianguang delivered a speech entitled Accelerating High-level Science and Technology Innovation, Vigorously Developing New-quality Productive Forces, and Providing Scientific and Technological Support for MCC's Further Transformation and Upgrading. He fully affirmed the MCC's science and technology innovation work since the "14th Five-Year Plan", and put forward three requirements for further science and technology innovation work: First, fully recognize the importance and urgency of science and technology innovation work, and understand that developing new-quality productive forces is an inherent requirement and an important focus for promoting high-quality development. Second, actively cultivate high-level science and technology innovation capabilities that propel enterprises towards high-quality development, ensure the technological advantages in core businesses, and continue to enhance the core competitiveness and value creativity of enterprises. Third, strengthen organizational, institutional, talent, and financial guarantees, create an environment that encourages innovation, fully unleash the potential of innovation and creativity, and provide a solid guarantee for achieving high-level scientific and technological self-reliance and self-improvement.
Qu Yang made a work report titled Strengthening the Spirit of Self-Reliance and Self-Improvement, Cultivating Original and Unique Capabilities, and Advancing the High-Quality Development of MCC with Science and Technology Innovation as the Primary Driving Force. He comprehensively summarized the achievements and shortcomings in MCC's science and technology innovation work since the "14th Five-Year Plan", analyzed the main issues and new challenges faced by current science and technology innovation work, and made arrangements for the next work in five aspects: optimize and upgrade MCC's science and technology innovation system, strengthen the systematic scientific and technological research and development, improve the evaluation and conversion mechanisms for scientific and technological achievements, integrate scientific and technological resources both within and outside MCC, and successfully accomplish all key tasks.
Academician Zeng Bin made an academic report, and five subsidiaries made presentations. At the conference, outstanding chief engineers of projects of MCC for the year 2023 were recognized.
At the conference, thoughts were unified, consensus was reached, problems and shortcomings were analyzed, and key tasks were clarified, providing a clear direction for MCC to promote the science and technology innovation work in the next step.
The heads of relevant departments, the main leaders of the subsidiaries, the leaders in charge of scientific and technological work, and the chief experts of MCC, attended the conference.
